Your wedding day can tend to be hectic. From hair, makeup, set up and photos the day flies by in the blink of an eye. In the months leading up to this day, you spend ample time working on all the details. From the perfect dress, veil, shoes, family heirlooms, jewelry all the way down to the colors and flowers. Nothing is not thought out.
I live for the details! These are some of my absolute most FAVORITE things to capture on your wedding day. So much thought and effort go into these details, and they are what encompass each couple's special and unique style.
But sometimes it can be a bit stressful figuring out what details you want included in these photos so that you can make sure your detail shots capture your personal style? Have no fear, that's where I come in! Here are a few tips from me, on things you can put aside in a details box prior to your wedding day for your photos along with some of my favorite weddings.
First Up, Your Wedding Invitation!
Your Save The Dates, Rehearsal Invitations and Wedding Invitations are perfect pieces to set aside for your detail shots. It could be as simple as a unique handcrafted design, or perhaps a perfectly matched set you had custom digitally designed and ordered online just for you. The invitations are a key component to your detail shots and truly make your detail shots feel complete.
Pro Tip!: Put aside two copies of your invitations, along with two envelopes and any other paper goods you sent out (wax seals, RSVP's).
Next Consider Personal Items!
Personal Items in your detail shots are what make them uniquely about YOU! Think of all those key components you will be using that day. Jewlery, shoes, earrings, perfume! There's is no such thing as providing too many details. These details shouldn't just be limited to the Bride, Groom's should also consider putting their details aside for photos. Shoes, pocket squares, watches and cufflinks, just to name a few also add to the personal touch.
Pro Tip!: Keeping your rings together! This makes them readily available for the detail shots.
Greenery and Florals!
A small clipping of the greenery and florals being used on your wedding day is another beautiful unique touch to add to your detail shots. They also add a cohesive touch to all the other detailed components of your wedding day! These pieces truly give an advantage to me and other photographers with an array of options on how style your photos.
Pro Tip!: You can always ask your florist ahead of time for a small handful of greens and florals to put aside for your detail shots.
How do I Prepare?
A great way you can prepare before your wedding for detail shots is by putting together a Bridal Box! This does two things, first, it puts all your key items in one place, so you don't forget anything important that you'll need when getting ready. Second, with everything already together, it makes it simpler for me, as your photographer, to have access to all your unique details making sure everything gets included in your photo gallery to have for years to come!
